L’Initial

Here we go ! This is the very first red wine we made : L’Initial… and it kept its name ! We raise it 11 months in stainless steel vats.

L’Initial 2013 :  This so-difficult vintage is successful at Beyssac ! The fruity, velvety and color are always waiting for you.
“Peony and smoky, tender and expressive material, an extra roundness makes the difference”, rated “Success” of 2013 vintage wines from the Southwest by the Revue du Vin de France (P.Citerne, RVF 06/2014).

L’Initial 2012 : Very nice vintage whith great fruity and roundness, velvety tannins.
“An elegant wine, fruity and smooth, enhanced by a final touch of acidity that gives it balance.” (Guide Hachette des Vins 2015).
“This lovely southern wine charms with its juicy and soft texture easily accessible. It develops fresh fruit flavors with a good balance of the material, which makes it particularly greedy.” (Guide rouge de la RVF 2015, rated 14/20).
“Beautiful fruit, dense matter, nice extension, fine tannins, fresh finish.” (Bettane & Desseauve 2015, rated 14/20).

L’Initial 2011 : This vintage is not as exceptional as the previous ones. But all the qualities of fruity and roundness of the Initial are still there.
“Impressive in appearance, this wine is pitch black at the core and allows the barest showing of a dark, morello cherry rim. The nose is peaty and smoky, with a light menthol note. There are tart blackberries, boysenberries and black plum skins. The rather juicy palate is well reined-in by supporting acidity and lightly stringy tannins. No sign of new oak peeks through the wine’s pristine clean fruit. A nice bistro wine by the glass or bottle, best enjoyed now through 2017.” (Wine Enthusiast / Importer Connection, 07/2015 : 87/100).

L’Initial 2010 : Second great vintage in a row! And we managed to convert the try …
“Deep color, a nose of black fruits and spices, concentrated and luscious mouth, silky tannins on the finish.” (Bettane & Desseauve 2014, rated 13,5).
“Wild nose of roasted meat and violets, very concentrated with firm tannin, rounded finish.” (Bronze medal – Decanter World Wine Awards, Londres 2013).
“The 2010 version of this wine has the same arguments of franchise and pulp.” (rated 15/20 – P.Citerne, RVF n°566, 11/2012) [this tasting note follows the note on Initial 2009 reproduced below]
“The Initial 2010 vintage picks a star for its fruity character.” (Hachette 2013).
“CuvĂ©e at once fruity, soft, creamy, but also a high density.” (Bettane & Desseauve 2013, rated 13,5).
Rated “Great success” of 2010 vintage wines from the Southwest by the Revue du Vin de France. “This wine reveals an intense and spicy soft flesh. The whole is medium-bodied and complex” (J-E. Simond, La Revue du Vin de France, 06/2011).

L’Initial 2009 : Dream vintage for our first wine !
“Dense et sanguin, dĂ©liĂ© et plein de saveurs, ce vin exprime de grandes qualitĂ©s : il parvient Ă  ĂŞtre stable, sĂ©rieux et piquant, enlevĂ©.” Listed in the 5 discoveries not to be missed. (rated 15,5/20 – P.Citerne, RVF n°566, 11/2012)
“We love the juice and the flesh of this Initial” (Cuisine et Vins de France, 02/2012)
“The nose was deliciously fresh, complex and exuberant and the palate was full/medium bodied, full of rich flavour and well structured but not in the least jammy with lively acidity, minerals and some attractive tar and gum undertones; yum 16.5/20” (Tim York, WineLovers Discussion Group, 11/2011).
“Very ripe fruit, velvety, fleshy, body” (Gold medal – Concours GĂ©nĂ©ral Agricole, Paris 2011)
“Modern, floral, menthol, ripe fruit nose. Juicy, soft with medium+ length. Integrated and spicy” (Bronze medal – Decanter Awards, Londres 2011)
“Very colorful, dense mouth, velvety, very beautiful fruit, round, fat, a sensation of sweetness and well round” (J.Dupont, magazine Le Point, 02/2010)
